Khabibulin unveils new helmet, attempts to channel the Ghost of Grant Fuhr

The Edmonton Journal online had a post through one of their hockey blogs (Hat tip to Seth at Empty Netters for finding it) that described and showed a picture of recent Oilers signee Nikolai Kabibulin's helmet he will wear for his time as an Oiler.

"Well, I am starting to get up there in age," Khabibulin may have said, "and once I absorb Grant Fuhr's powers, I will be unstoppable." The goaltender might have said as he was shopping for seat cushions to use as leg pads, in an attempt to further make himself like Grant Fuhr.

The decision to select Grant Fuhr, a stand up-style goaltender, to channel the ghost of is a curious one. Though many Oilers fans will argue that Grant Fuhr was one of the best goaltenders in the team's storied history, his style does clash, and could have unforseen and possibly negative side effects, with Khabibulin's, and admittedly most of the NHL's, tendancy towards butterfly style.

In an attempt to channel Mr. Fuhr's ghost for comment, we brought in an Amateur Psychic and future contributor, Mister Mystic. After repeated attempts to channel the ghost of the former Oilers goaltender failed, we managed to find a code of some sort. After tedious hours of decyphering this code, we determined the message: "Ask Wayne."

Mike Meyers was unable to be reached, but our second option, Wayne Gretzky proved to be of some help as well, suggesting that he had channeled the elusive spirit in Phoenix.

Most reporters would quit at this point, determining the story to be "pointless" or "not worth their time", but fortunatly, our time here at Technically Hockey is worthless, so we followed the story to Phoenix, meeting many interesting people while hitchhiking there.

Upon our arrival in Phoenix, we contacted Mr. Gretzky again, who sent us to a house which apparently once belonged to Mr. Fuhr. We knocked up on the door and were shocked at what happened next...

Grant Fuhr stood in the doorway, a puzzled look on his face. "Can I help you?" He seemed almost solid. After a short discussion, we discovered that Grant Fuhr is in fact NOT dead, "though working for a ghost team like the Coyotes sometimes feels like it." the former goaltender quipped.

When asked for his thoughts on the 'Bulin Wall's decision, Fuhr replied, "I'm honored, though that channeling might be a problem, with me being alive and all. Maybe he should channel Jacques Plante or someone! ...I'm still working on my stand up..."
