Preview: Canadiens at Penguins

The Penguins welcome Hall Gill to the Mellon for the first time this season, as they take on the Canadiens tonight at 7:30 on FSN.

Opponent Notes
The Montreal Canadiens continue to be relatively unimpressive in the second half of their centennial year. The offseason saw them add a number of new faces in an attempt to perform well. For our purposes, the only ones of interest are Hal Gill, Scotty Gomez, and Scotty Gomez's mammoth contract.

Former Penguin and Mini Space Giant Hal Gill will likely continue to half use his big frame, hit people and block shots. And take stupid penalties. And be like -100. Gill, along with Paul Mara, are the only two top-6 defensemen on the Canadiens team who are under an even +/-.

The leading scorer on this team is Michael Cammalleri. I'll say that again. Montreal's leading scorer is Michael Cammalleri. I've nothing against Cammalleri, but with a team that would win like 8 straight Stanley Cups in the free version of Eastside Hockey Manager, you'd expect it might be Gomez or even Brian Gionta.

Carey Price is playing as consistently as Vesa Toskala. Which isn't good. Jaroslav Halak, however, could prove to be a problem for the Penguins, as he is playing adequately, so should probably get the start against the Penguins.

The Penguins will be looking to rebound against an inconsistent Montreal team, after being thrashed 3 days ago by New Jersey. I wouldn't be surprised to see the lineup to be shaken up from the lineup used against the division rival. Chris Bourque seems like a natural option to step in and help the offense, though that will likely be one of a number of changes.

Of course, the Penguins could easily blow this one, especially if Montreal employs the trap. Prove me wrong, Penguins.

Predictions
My Prediction: The Penguins will rebound, and will win, 5-3
Mr Mystic Says: Pens win 3-1
Note: Mr Mystic FINALLY got this to me at 6:12pm. Still, it's before gametime.

Records (Correct-Wrong(Correct Score))
TH: 6-4(0)
MM: 7-3(1)
