What surprises wait inside these two packs? let's take a look.

1) Ty Conklin - Pittsburgh Penguins - Ah, Ty Conklin...easily one of my favorite players after his time in the 'Burgh. Although this season's backup, Brent Johnson, wins in helmet design...look at those pads! Makes me long for the days of MAF's schoolbus pads.
2) Rick Nash - Columbus Blue Jackets - Well, they used a different picture for this card versus the last one we saw of him. The flavor text on this card claims Nash had the best goal of the year on 1/17/2008, because it became an instant youtube sensation...that's right, a hockey card just referenced youtube. My mind is blown.
3) Josh Harding - Minnesota Wild - Umm. Nothing worth noting here. A young backup goaltender. Never really hear much about Minnesota anymore.
4) Patrick Kane - Chicago Blackhawks - He looks older with his equipment on. Without?
5) Mikko Koivu - Minnesota Wild - The card claims Koivu is on the fast track to superstardom, but I always kind of looked at the younger Koivu as a middling talent, but if you put some talent around them, the Rob Brown effect is always possible.
6) Ryan Stone - Rookie - Really, Upper Deck? You still can't pick a good set of rookie card candidates to save your life, huh? Oh well. Moving on...
7) Alexander Frolov - Los Angeles Kings - This card actually has some impressive flavor text: "Frolov kicked things into third gear to start his 2008 as he posted 36 points in a 28-game stretch that spanned from New Year's Day to 2/23/08 against Chicago." That's a great stat!
8) Marc Savard - Boston Bruins - The flavor text does it's best impression of the NFL, providing totally random stats. This one explains how Savard had 9 points against the Canadiens in 2007-2008, most on the team against that team.
9) Check List - Cards 101-200 - AWESOME! AN OVECHKIN CARD! Oh wait...what's this? WHAT THE HELL?! IT'S A FRIGGIN CHECKLIST?! SON OF A-
10) Trent Hunter - New York Islanders - The flavor text points out his penalty killing skills and physical prowess, then points out he had two assists in one game this one time. Interestingly, he does have a point every-other-game pace through this point in his career.
11) Mats Sundin - Toronto Maple Leafs - HAHAHAHA!! mmmhahahahah!....HA HA HA HA HA!!!
12) Joe Thornton - Stars of the Game - I'll give credit where it's due: This is someone who comes to mind as a star of the game. The flavor text points out he's only the 4th player to ever lead the league in assists three straight seasons.
That's all for this weeks cards. I'd love some comments. Would you like to see more old cards? More new ones? Should I even keep this crap up?
Keep it going!
