Olympic Showdown

Despite a valiant effort by Team USA, the lost to Team Canada in (both) the Gold Medal game(s). But you already knew that. My analysis, after the jump.

First: Way to go Men's and Women's USA hockey. In a year or so, you'll be able to look back and be proud of your Silver Medal, even if it hurts now. And just remember, in four years, your teams will be four years better. Exciting times ahead.

I'm only going to be analyzing (to death) the Men's game from this past sunday, because frankly, I don't remember many specifics about the women's game, outside of seeing the hurt on their faces for losing in the gold game.

Also, I can only analyze the first two periods. I stopped watching then, in hopes that the team could score is I wasn't watching. This worked, but I have to admit, I checked for a score in between the 3rd and OT. Anyway, ONTO THE ANALYSIS!

  • Team USA looked okay for a lot of the game. Ryan Miller kept them in it

  • Roberto Luongo, on the other hand...is still a turd

  • Okay, maybe that last one was an opinion.

  • But the fact is that he was well taken care of by his D and still looked shaky at times

  • Sidney Crosby is just the best there is right now. Ovie didn't even medal.

  • Hope Paul Stasny has a short memory...or maybe short term memory loss. The day after this game, he plays Detroit. Nice vote of confidence, NHL

  • The US needs to get some players who can't do defense, but are AWESOME on offense...thing Pavel Bure, but American.

  • The Canadians on the other hand needed a coach who can coach new players. Babcock is a GREAT coach, but he's had the same basic team his entire career in the D

  • Really, it's just a testament of the direction that Toronto is going to see Brian Burke and Ron Wilson do such a great job with Team USA, a team that wasn't expected to medal

  • Exciting times are ahead

Well that's all. It was a fun Olympics, and should be again in four more years. For now, back to your regularly scheduled Technically, Hockey
