)Mike Keane - Montreal Canadiens - Mike Keane spent much of his career as a prototypical role player. Although he was a solid and dependable player for Montreal for many years, he was actually signed as a free agent, and spent a but of time developing in the minors.
)Greg Paslawski - Quebec Nordiques - Although relatively unremarkable as a player, the years of 1990-1992 were a wild ride for Greg. Playing for Winnipeg to begin 1990, he finished the season in Buffalo. Then he was picked up by San Jose in the Expansion Draft, then quickly moved to Quebec in a trade for Tony Hrkac.
)Kelly Buchberger - Edmonton Oilers - An awesome two-way forward in his day, he really started to find his niche right around this time, and according to the flavor text, often found himself matched up against opponents' top forwards.
)Christian Ruutu - Buffalo Sabres - Really dominant early in his career, he has at least 60 points in each of his first four seasons, but then was playing in a reduced role as a checker and kind of a leadership role.
)Daniel Marois - New York Islanders - While Marois was very impressive in his early career (even so far as finishing second in scoring amongst rookies his first year), after he was moved to New York, he never really found his groove, and spent pretty much the rest of his career in the minors and Europe
)Larry Murphy - Pittsburgh Penguins - While not his last stop, Murphy's time in Pittsburgh made a great impact on the city as he helped them to win 2 Stanley Cups. What a great card to have after last night's ceremony.
)Shawn McEachern - Pittsburgh Penguins (Rookie) - Not too much to say here. McEachern was a solid contributer with the Penguins, and really a physical force.
)Wayne Gretzky - Los Angeles Kings (500 Goal Club) - Gretzky had achieved many things by this point in his career, and this was another impressive milestone, though by this point he already had 749 goals.
)Tony Tanti - Buffalo Sabres - Chicago's 1st round pick in 1981, Tanti played just three games for Chicago before being traded to Vancouver. At this point he had nearly 300 goals in his career. Unfortnuately, this was his last season in the NHL.
)Joe Reekie - New York Islanders - Reekie was originally drafted by Hartford, but after failing to sign, was put back into the draft in 1985. Reekie was pretty good in the NHL games of the day, though his role was more that of a Goon or Pest.
)Bob Bassen - St. Louis Blues - Bob Bassen was almost out of hockey at one point, but some play in the minors for most off 1988-89 reinvigorated him, and he came back to set new career highs in the following two seasons
)Brian Trottier - Pittsburgh Penguins (500 Goal Club) - Trottier was absolutely prolific during his time with the New York Islanders. his 500th goal was his last with the Islanders, as he signed with the Penguins following the 1988-89 season. He helped the team to win their two Cups, providing leadership and some secondary scoring. Great to get this card after he was honored last night.
Well, that's all for this week's cards. Be sure to make your way back next week, as I'm gonna switch it up a little bit.
