Penguins fall to Rob Scuderi's surging LA Kings, 5-2
The Game's Three Stars
1) Anze Kopitar
2) Dustin Brown
3) Jarret Stoll
Thoughts on the Game
-I miss being able to watch games
-Anze Kopitar is the real deal
-Interesting note: Both Kopitar's goals were on the backhand
-Craig Adams and Mark Eaton both managed to get -3
-Kris Letang was on the ice too much. He's a 2nd pair guy
-Speaking of which, did Bylsma pair Letang and Goligoski last night? They were the top two players in TOI for the Penguins, but why would you pair two offensive defensmen together for the top pairing?
-What a meltdown by the Pens. FOUR GOALS IN THE 3RD PERIOD?!
-Also, why only 23 shots? No way the Kings' D is that good
-Why are the Penguins even playing Godard if they're not even giving him 5 minutes game?
-Hate to say it, but if Chris Bourque keeps getting the Pesonen treatment, he WILL be a failed experiment
-Finally, Give Kopitar the 'C'. Dustin Brown played like 15 minutes, Kopitar over 20, and just takes over games. Maybe they want his english to improve first?
Enemy of the (Penguins') State: The Powerplay. There weren't a ton of opportunites last night, but it's just continued to be atrocious, and championship teams need functional special teams. End of story.

First of all i want to say that the game was very good, until the 3rd Pd. I think the game was very well matched, however i would have to say that i agree, we need to send lill B down and get more work. His work ethics are great but his style of play is bad. Second, we had no reason to start Godard if Kennedy was healthy. to be quite frank i think we should let rid of him, because we have enough guys that get alot of ice time that are willing to fight. Second i do belive Kopitar is the real deal. He is smooth with his and and can skate very well. i just think he needs to develop English better before given a leadership role. However, i think Dustin Brown is a great leader as well. he scored two goals and is a defencemen. i hate to say it but the Kings out played the Pens in the 3rd, obviously. also i think that Bob Errey and Paul Stagy made way to big a deal of the 10 road wins in a way....... again this is Road2theCup, until next time, Let's Go Pens
ReplyDeleteGodard will be an asset once Rupp is gone. I'm pretty sure they are exactly the same player.
