Barry Melrose isn't bitter

A recent NHL.com article about John Stevens being fired as Philly's coach addresses what everyone is clearly wondering about in regards to firing the coach. What is Barry Melrose thinking?

Of course, that isn't to say that anyone can ever truly understand the Mullet. I mean, if they chose Matthew Barnaby to replace him when he went to coach the Lightning, clearly they didn't have much to replace. Apparently, since they kept Barnaby around, Barry Melrose < Former NHL tough guy. Or they didn't want to be in breach of Barnaby's contract. One or the other.

You know, really ESPN should have chosen someone scary. Gary Roberts comes to mind, but Darius Kasparitis would have worked as well. Speaking of which, does ESPN even have anyone on their staff from Russia? I mean, they've covered like ever other significant group on one of their channels (I hear ESPN Desportes is all the rage in Texas), but not the Russians. Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov would not be happy. Now Russia will definitely win the 2010 Olympics.

What was I saying? Oh right, Barry Melrose. That Mullet tends to put me off topic pretty well.

But if you read that brief article, there's an interesting quote where Melrose reveals that both Barry Trotz and Lindy Ruff may not be coaching the Predators and Sabres, respectively. Say it ain't so! How can I live in a world where the Predators make a legitamate attempt to become contenders?!

Also of note in this article, when describing Peter Lavatory, he says he's slightly different a coach, then proceeds to describe how, and then state that he's a totally different coach.

Man, it's great to be able to take shots at the Mullet. That is all.
