The Premise: I will be opening a pack of hockey cards every friday (as long as I can find some), and providing commentary, some thoughts, and maybe (probably not) some free 20-year-old bubble gum.
Today's pack is Bowman, from 1990 (90-91 season). The wax paper is old and somewhat ineffective now, and the gum is rock-like and sharply damages the value of at least one card per pack.
Anyway, onto the cards!

(click to see a larger image. Sorry, the quality is poor, I need a new scanner)
1) Dave Lowry - St. Louis Blues - What a mullet, eh? A moderate player who I remember as a member of the Florida Panthers team that was all about the rats.
2) Scott Arniel - Buffalo Sabres - Either playing very intense, or he's constipated. A player before my time, but up to the card's print date, it looks like he averaged a point every other game or so.
3) Sergei Makarov - Calgary Flames - Back of the card says he was born in the U.S.S.R., Last amateur team was the Central Red Army, and he was a 12th round pick in 1983. Oh, and he had seven points in 3 games against the Nordiques in 1989-90
4) Adam Creighton - Chicago Blackhawks - 199 points in 295 career games. Aquired from Buffalo 12-26-88. How much would that suck. Day after christmas: GM: Hey Adam, you've been traded. Creighton: OH NOEZ!
5) James Patrick - New York Rangers - Wow. I didn't know he played for anyone outside of the Blackhawks, though it makes sense he wasn't drafted by them.
6) John Ogrodnick - New York Rangers - Almost a point-per-game pace to his career up to 89-90 and I have never heard of him.
7) Rick Vaive - Buffalo Sabres - Almost a point-per-game pace as well. Also of note is that there's a double asterisk on the career totals, explaining that it's only his NHL career totals, it excludes WHA totals.
8) Dave Taylor - Hat Tricks Card - How many Dick Tracy's had to be killed for these 'Glossy' cards? That's what that hat looks like anyway. Apparently, Taylor capitalized off of Gretzky, and recorded a playoff hat trick April 10, 1990
9) Kelly Hrudey - Los Angeles Kings - Looks like the mid point in Hrudey's career. He pretty much sucked out loud against everyone except the Red Wings and the Rangers (2.00 GAA in 2 games and 1.52 GAA in 2 games, respectively), the only two teams he played against and managed under a 3.00 GAA.
10) Thomas Sandstrom - Los Angeles Kings - Rocking the full mask, the card included a note that his season totals for 1989-90 season include his record against the Kings, as he was acquired in a trade with the rangers. However, only the totals have it. You have to add all the numbers up on your own and subtract from the totals to figure it out.
11) Ulf Dahlen - Minnesota North Stars - Ah, the North Stars. Anyway, looks like the rangers were in buy mode for the trade deadline in 89-90. Dahlen is the second player in a row they trade in 1990. Also interesting: This is pre-San Jose expansion. I believe Dahlen was one of their expansion picks.
12) Murray Craven - Philadelphia Flyers - I always laugh at his name. Especially considering he was on a team that was infamous for employing the 'Broad-Street Bullies".
13) Jimmy Carson - Detroit Red Wings - A Michigan native playing for his hometown team. Had 8 points in 3 games against the Nordiques in 89-90, and averaged over a point per game in his career to that point.
14) Mike Richter - New York Rangers - Here's a living legend. Richter just got into the Hall of Fame, but this card is one for his sophmore year. He played 23 games in a backup role, managing a 3.00 GPA in 23 games. Who would have thought he would go on to be so good?
15) Brian Propp - Boston Bruins - Again, averaging over a goal per game. Was is just easier to do back then? Either way, looks like he was in the twilight of his career.
Well, that's it for this premier edition of Friday pack of cards. Hope you enjoyed the trip. We'll see you next Friday!
