2008-09 Upper Deck Victory cards. First thing you notice is that the packs were only $1, but only have 6 cards. I've gone with two packs so that we can maintain the 12 card minimum.
These cards are much nicer quality than they were back in what was now going on 20 years ago. Let's take a look, shall we?

1) Darcy Tucker - Toronto Maple Leafs - According to the back of the card, his name is pronounced TUH-kuhr, DAHR-see...They also used the same picture on front and back.
2) Dwayne Roloson - Edmonton Oliers - Interesting how things change in a year. I think Dwayne may be over the hill. Time to retire?
3) Bill Guerin - New York Islanders - Interesting to note, according to the card, he has recorded at least 20 points with 6 different teams. Guess you can make that 7 teams now.
4) Matt Stajan - Toronto Maple Leafs - These cards must have been targeted to Canada and intercepted. No one really wants a recent Maple Leafs card, unless they're from Toronto.
5) Ray Whitney - Carolina Hurricanes - Ray even looks old in his picture. Why can't old players look noteworthy like they did in the 90's. Case and point: Michel Goulet and his awesome porn 'stache
6) Rick Nash - Game Breakers - Apparently the best Nash could manage in 07-08 was a three point game. Kinda would have expected more from someone on a 'Game Breakers' card. But Nash is a great talent, and easily the best forward in Columbus.
7) Milan Michalek - San Jose Sharks - Apparently, the creators were unimpressed by Michalek, as they put a generic compliment, then point out his brother plays for Phoenix.
8) Jay Bouwmeester - Florida Panthers - Another player not with his team anymore. Oddly, they list his scoring accomplishment, rather than pointing out his physical prowess.
9) Alex Kovalev - Montreal Canadiens - Not anymore. The current Senator's forward managed to get his 800th career point in 2007-08 season, and managed to finish in 11th place in the NHL scoring race.
10) Pascal Leclaire - Hard to believe that in 2007-08 Leclaire had 9 shutout, and in 2008-09 he was traded to the Senators. What a fall from grace. But he's not doing terrible in Ottawa...
11) Paul Kariya - St. Louis - I never really hear about Kariya anymore. But he's still performing admirably. I wonder if he's gonna finish his career with St. Louis or if he'll try and retire with the Ducks.
12) Joe Sakic - Game Breakers - Joe Sakic defines a game breaker...if this were like 5 years ago. Easily one of the classiest players of all time, though. The text on the back says he scores goals and gave Ray Bourque the Cup.
That's it for this weeks Pack of Cards, make your way back next week for another pack of Upper Deck Victory!
